The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee June 25 through August 20, 2009
This Tony-winning hit musical comedy celebrates six young misfits in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves. They learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser. This hilarious tale of overachievers' angst chronicles the experiences of six young people vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The Tony Award-winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time. Kid- and adult-friendly. Before every performance of Spelling Bee, four audience volunteers are recruited to participate on stage as guest spellers. Each new group guarantees a new set of unexpected and hilarious experiences - every night is different!

A Year with Frog and Toad July 10 through August 22
Based on Arnold Lobel's "Frog and Toad" stories, featuring well-loved characters that hop from the page to the stage in WIllie and Robert Reale's musical A Year with Frog and Toad. The musical remains true to the spirit of the original stories as it follows two great friends, the cheerful and popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad. Waking from hibernation in spring, they proceed through four fun-filled seasons, learning life lessons along the way, including a most important one about friendship. The score bubbles with melody and wit, its jazzy upbeat sound is a perfect match for the denizens of Frog and Toad's world. It's a perfect show for a versatile ensemble of actors, with clever lyrics and snazzy music, entertaining young and old alike. Ages 4 and up.
