The Renaissance of Snowmass

Coming To Snowmass...

Over the next five years, Snowmass will see vast changes, including $50 million of on-mountain improvements, extensive renovations to existing lodges and the start of a vibrant new base village.

This Winter...

On-Mountain Improvements
Few things are more revered than fast mountain access, so the lift system beginning at Fanny Hill has been rethought to allow less time waiting and more time on the slopes.

Village Express Lift
The existing Fanny Hill chairlift will be replaced with a six-passenger lift named Village Express. A speedy 9.5-minute ride will get you from the bottom of Fanny Hill to the top of Sam's Knob, with a mid-way unloading station for those wishing to access beginner terrain. Village Express accommodates 2,800 people per hour, is 10,057 feet long and has 2,174 vertical feet of rise. The lift cuts total riding time in half and eliminates waiting in two additional lift lines to access the same terrain! This lift will be operated one half hour past closing time to allow residents and guests to return to their lodging at the end of the day.

Sky Cab (Mall Connector)
A fast and fun aerial link between existing Snowmass Village Mall and new base village joins commercial centers and integrates conference/community activities. This two-minute ride (think of it as an elevator on cables between two villages and retail centers) provides uphill or downhill connectivity to a one-of-a-kind Snowmass Village complex. Cabins are six-passenger. For the 2005-2006 season, the Sky Cab offers skiing and snowboarding on lower Fanny Hill, as well as access for children's learn-to-ski/snowboard programs.

Existing Lodge Improvements/Renovations
Snowmass offers 29 lodging properties, ranging from budget to full service deluxe hotels to luxury condominiums or townhouses. In Snowmass, 95% of lodging is ski-in/ski out.

This year, Snowmass lodging properties are undergoing massive renovations with over $28 million of property upgrades ready for the 2005-2006 winter season (information provided by Town of Snowmass Village).

The New Base Village
The new base village at Snowmass is taking shape with construction that began summer 2005. The future base village will feature a 25,000-square-foot children's center, 64,000 square feet of new shops and restaurants, 15,000-square-foot conference space, a community aquatic center, a 246-unit Westin conference hotel, The Little Nell Suites at Snowmass, 359 condominiums and 11 new restaurants and bars - all connected to the upper village area by a two-minute gondola ride on the Sky Cab.

Construction Impacts to Guests Will Be Minimal...
Snowmass' 3,128 acres of skiing/snowboarding terrain will not be affected by the Base Village construction. All terrain and lifts will operate as usual and two new lifts are being installed over the 2005 summer. The entire base village development encompasses only a few acres of land located at the base of Fanny Hill, outside the current ski area. For the most part, construction work will be in a contained area. Existing Snowmass restaurants, retail outlets and activities will be unaffected by the development (with the exception of the closing of Sam's Knob restaurant). All pedestrian access points will remain open. Two parking lots and corresponding shuttle stops have been eliminated, however, parking is available at the Rodeo Lot, Two Creeks and Lot C. Lot C is a short walk and ski to the bottom of the Village Express lift. Tickets and restroom facilities will still be available at the base of Fanny Hill.
