Pennywise and Flobots to Perform at XGames

Aspen/Snowmass is rolling out unprecedented back-to-back evenings of Bud Light Hi-Fi Concerts at the base of Aspen Mountain during ESPN’s Winter X Games 13, January 22 – 25, 2009.

The Flobots, Denver, Colo. natives, bring their alternative rock and rap sounds to Aspen on Friday, January 23 at 5:30 p.m. for a FREE performance. Formed in 2000, the six-member band is well known for their hit song, “Handlebars.”

Snowmass is bustling for the holiday season! Four new eating establishments have opened in Snowmass this winter bringing the total to almost 20.

Sam’s Smokehouse features a barbecue-style smokehouse menu and coffee bar. The new 7,800 square foot restaurant, boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and table service for 175, plus outdoor seating. Sam's is located at the top of the Village Express six-pack and serves breakfast and lunch.

Sneaky’s Tavern is located adjacent to The Treehouse and steps from the Village Express. Sneaky’s offers indoor and outdoor bar/ dining seating. American bistro style cuisine will be served at lunch, après and dinner.

Eleven new restaurants open their doors in Aspen/Snowmass this winter. The new $9 million Sam’s Smokehouse on Sam's Knob seats 160 people indoors and another 50 outdoors on the deck. The 7,800-square-foot restaurant has a wall of windows with spectacular views of Garret's Peak, Mount Daly, and the surrounding backcountry.

At the Snowmass Base Village, Junk is a new concept eatery which plans on redefining fast food. The locally and organic ingredients take a healthy twist on junk food.

Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk open this Saturday, December 13, after a snowy week and plenty of runs to ski and ride on.

Aspen Highlands celebrates it's 50th anniverary - the mountain opened on Saturday, December 20, 1958, when daily lift tickets were just $4. The Buttermilk Mountain also opened in December 1958, although not officially until January 11, 1959.

If you’re looking to save money this winter book the new Kid’s Fly, Ski & Stay Free package through Stay Aspen Snowmass. Purchase a 3-day/4-night package including airfare on Frontier Airlines, lift tickets and lodging before December 23, 2008 and for each adult booking, one child (12 and under) flies, skis and stays free of charge. Rental equipment is also available as part of the package.

Aspen Mountain and Snowmass will open for the season on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27. Snowmaking teams have worked around the clock to cover the mountains and snow is forecasted this week.

Aspen Mountain opens with four trails and 48 acres of skiing all of it at the top of the hill with 1,100 feet of vertical. Open trails include 1 & 2 Leaf, Upper Copper, Silver Bell and Deer Park. The Ajax Express is open but skiers and riders will download on the Gondola at the end of the day.

World Cup racer: World Cup racersThe fastest women in the world will compete this Friday to Sunday in Slalom and Giant Slalom. Check out Olympic Gold Medalist Julia Mancuso as well as Lindsay Vonn, Resi Steigler and Stacey Cook. The races are held on Aspen Mountain from 10am to 4pm.

Aspen/Snowmass Luggage Express offers options including, 2-Day Air for inbound bags and Ground for outbound. The program is available to all guests traveling to or from Aspen/Snowmass, regardless of whether the trip is booked through Stay Aspen Snowmass.
